Nikon COOLSCOPE Digital Microscope

A multi-application networked digital microscope for teaching, consultation and collaboration.

COOLSCOPE is an integrated digital microscope and camera system that does not require a computer, equipment setup, optical adjustment or software installation. Built on Nikon's high-precision optics and innovative technology, COOLSCOPE combines simplicity and advanced technology for users of all levels. The COOLSCOPE offers simultaneous viewing of a macro image and a micro image at a magnification of 5x, 10x, 20x, and 40x using a monitor or projector.  The COOLSCOPE is also available in a LOW-MAG version which offers 2x, 4x, 20x, and 40x magnifications for even wider fields of view while maintaining high-magnification capability.

Revolutionary Stand-alone Design
Nikon's COOLSCOPE standalone digital microscope system design requires only a computer mouse, monitor/projector, and a power cord to begin exploring your specimen slides.

Magnifications
5x, 10x, 20x, and 40x magnifications allow the flexibility of quick navigation across a specimen and high-magnification, in-depth observations.  COOLSCOPE LOW-MAG offers 2x, 4x, 20x, and 40x magnifications for even wider fields of view while retaining high-magnification capability.

Viewing
Both the whole image of a specimen and the magnified portion are displayed on a single screen together. Furthermore, the point being magnified is indicated with crosshairs on the macro image. This is a feature not available with existing microscopes.

Operation
Simply load the slide glass preparation onto the tray. The rest is all done by simple mouse clicks. Aperture and brightness are automatically adjusted while stage movement, focusing, and magnification changeover are all digitally motorized. Since everything is operated with the mouse, you can concentrate on the monitor screen from start to finish. This means the COOLSCOPE is comfortable and easy to use.

High Resolution Image Capture
Capture high resolution images at 5 Megapixels or 1.3 Megapixels produced with high-density CCD digital-image technology and Nikon CFI Optics combined from this single ergonomic design.

Network Ability
You can remotely view the image, or operate the COOLSCOPE via a network such as LAN and WAN. At a different location within the network you can view an image being observed on the COOLSCOPE by someone else, or you can remotely perform basic operations. To do this, you need no special software, just a PC with a standard browser installed.

Memory Function
The memory feature enables a user to save up to 12 coordinate positions of the specimen slide and recall the exact observation conditions every time.

Easy Setup
No equipment setup, optical adjustments, or software installation necessary. Just connect the equipment and push the power switch.

Illumination
COOLSCOPE'S LED illuminator provides bright, uniform, and cool light with a constant color temperature.

Ideal Applications
COOLSCOPE is ideal for universities and colleges, teaching hospitals, medical, dental and veterinary schools, and is also useful for clinical, research and collaborative applications. Reliable, high-quality remote collaboration is possible through COOLSCOPE's network accessibility and web browser interface. COOLSCOPE's slide capabilities provide an ideal way to display specimens in conference or classroom settings. Life sciences students can use the COOLSCOPE to remotely control the microscope over the Internet, and to view the same slide specimen simultaneously. This all-in-one imaging system is a perfect solution for microscopists to digitally share their work beyond the classroom and laboratory with ease.
