Sony SRW5000 Video Tape Recorder

The SRW-5000 is a full-bandwidth high definition VTR, capable of recording the gamut of HD frame/line rates in both 4:4:4 and 4:2:2 formats. By incorporating high-density recording technology, and the ISO-recognized MPEG-4 Studio Profile compression algorithm, the SRW-5000 records a 440 Mbps video payload, at 10-bit depth, at a very mild 2.7:1 compression ratio for 4:2:2 signals and only 4:1 compression ratio for 4:4:4. It can also record 12 channels of audio at 24-bit per sample resolution, and can play back HDCAM tapes. It records a 1080-line input signal at 23.98, 25, 25, 29.97 and 30 frames/second in Progressive Segmented Frame format, and at 50 and 59.94 field/second, in Interlace format. It also records 720P at 59.94. The SRW-5000 is capable of recording 1920x1080 log video information at 10-bit, as well. The optional HKSR-5001 Format Converter Board allows a pull-down sequence to be inserted into a 23.98 or 24 fps tape output, and conversion of a 1080i tape to 720P, and vice versa. Through the use of an HKSR-5002 decoder board, the SRW-5000 can play back Digital Betacam tapes, and provide an up-converted HD output to both 720P/60 and 1080. The optional HKSR-5003 interface board allows for full bandwidth 4:4:4 RGB recording, via dual link HD SDI. RGB 4:4:4 recordings can be internally converted to 4:2:2 output via the HKSR 5001 format conversion board in real-time during record or playback.
