Yamaha YDP101S Classic Home Piano

YDP-101S
A digital piano with the legendary quality and performance you have come to expect from Yamaha. In addition to authentic touch and sound in a handsome cabinet, the Yamaha YDP-101S has all the features that you want and need. Features like three pedals with full Sostenuto, two headphone jacks (one for the teacher and one for the student) and a two track sequencer for recording and playing back music.

Actual Sounds of a Concert Grand Piano
The Yamaha YDP-101S uses Yamaha's exclusive AWM (Advance Wave Memory) tone generation technology. Inside the YDP-101S is a digital recording, or "sample" of a high quality concert grand piano that is reproduced as you play, resulting in an wonderful acoustic sounding piano, with all the advantages of an advanced digital piano.

Added Realism and Depth of a Stereo Sampled Piano
The Yamaha YDP-101S is unusual for a digital piano in this price range in fact that its piano is derived from a "stereo sample." A stereo sampled piano is more expensive to provide because it requires more memory. If you've ever heard the difference between a mono and a stereo recording of your favorite music, you can appreciate how much better and natural stereo can sound.

Extended Polyphony - 32-Notes
Conventional digital pianos are limited in the number of notes they can play simultaneously (Polyphony). The YDP-101S is able to handle most musical passages without any noticeable drop out. Some digital pianos on the market today have as little as 8-notes polyphony. The Yamaha YDP-101S has 32-notes of polyphony.

Yamaha's Renowned AE Action
It took the experience gained from over 100 years of crafting fine acoustic pianos to create this Yamaha masterpiece: the AE (Action Effect) keyboard. Offering the sensitive touch response that makes Yamaha the industry leader in digital pianos. The AE keyboard is lightweight, so children and beginners can immediately feel comfortable. Play the YDP-101S for even a few seconds and you'll notice the difference.

Wide Range of Voices
To bring you the versatility your music requires the YDP-101S offers a wide selection of voices ranging from piano and electric piano to harpsichord, organ and strings. Better yet, there's a second variation for each voice, effectively doubling the number of voices.

Built-in Piano Music Library
The Yamaha YDP-101S comes with a built-in library of some of the most beloved piano music. To help you play, these songs are located in the sequencer (recorder). The keyboard will play either the right or the left hand while you play the other. This allows you to learn one hand at a time. You can have the YDP-101S play both hands while you listen. It's like having a teacher to play along with you.

Digital Reverb
The built-in digital reverb simulates the way sound is reflected from the floor, walls and ceiling to add more depth and life to your music. You can choose from two different hall sizes, a medium-size room, or on-stage ambience to get just the effect you want.

Dual Mode
Combine two voices with the dual mode and play them together - the effect can be magical. A favorite is strings and piano. Play staccato, and you just hear the piano voice. Play legato, and you also hear a beautiful halo of strings adding extra depth and richness.

Dual Mode Variable Touch Sensitivity
Adjust the keyboard's response to match your playing style or your finger strength. You have the choice of hard, medium or soft to get exactly the response you want. There's also a fixed response setting to turn off touch sensitivity, ideal for playing the organ voice.

Recorder
The built-in 2-track performance memory allows you to record a backing track, and then step into the spotlight and solo over it. What's more, you can save your performances to an external MIDI recorder via MIDI. Best of all, you can change tempo or voices even after you've recorded your performance. There's also a built-in metronome to help you stay in perfect time.
