Leica EM AFS2 Automatic Freeze Substitution System

The Leica EM AFS2 is capable of freeze substitution and progressive lowering of temperature ( PLT ) techniques as well as allowing low temperature embedding and polymerization of resins. A stereomicroscope for viewing and positioning of the samples is available and the LED illumination from within the chamber makes work easy.

The freeze substitution processor EM FSP is an automatic reagent handling system. Sitting on the EM AFS2, it dispenses reagents for both freeze substitution and PLT techniques.

Detailed Description

LEDs provide the UV light for polymerization. The 10 individual user settings with up to 99 progrms each allow individual parameters to be set and stored. A reagent list is available which can be easily edited.

The instrument computer is mouse-controlled with a color screen interface. Program data can be transferred from PC to EM AFS2 via USB.

The Freeze Substitution Processor EM FSP is an automatic reagent handling system. Sitting on the EM AFS2, it dispenses reagents for both freeze subsitution and PLT techniques. It automatically dilutes reagents from 100 % stock containers, thus reducing reagent handling and user set up time. An integrated UV lamp for polymerization means one step for the user - add sample and reagents, press start and leave until end of run. Up to 20 samples can be processed automatically per run.

Special embedding mold for high pressure frozen sample carriers are available.
