Konica Minolta CL-200 Incident Color Meter

Handheld and lightweight instrument for color, illuminance and color temperature measurements.

The portable Konica Minolta color meters are in their element when not only the brightness but also the color of light is to be measured. The wide selection offers the appropriate instrument for every application, from the simple tristimulus unit up to a spectroradiometer with spectral lenses.

Areas of application
Practically anything that illuminates can be measured with Konica Minolta's incident color meters. The possible uses range from research and development to production.
The CL-200 is a lux meter with a color function for workplace and street illumination, the production of lamps, or the measurement of very large surfaces and projectors (ANSI lumens) by taking advantage of the serial connection of several receptor heads.

Handheld and lightweight instrument for color, illuminance and color temperature measurements
The CL-200 is a Incident Color Meter designed to measure and display the tristimulus values, chromaticity, color difference, correlated color temperature and illuminance of light sources. Applications include research and development and color inspection of light sources whether for manufacture or end use, setting up and adjustment of projectors and other display devices and environmental and psychological experimentation and testing.

The CL-200 is a replacement for two instruments - the CL-100 and XY-1- and includes many new features. Immediate measurement is possible from turning on the unit by quick automatic zero adjustment so it is always ready to move at the speed of light. Sometimes it is necessary to measure remotely for matters of safety or convenience so the CL-200 receptor can be separated and connected up to 100m away from the measuring body by LAN cable. An RS-232 interface is built in to allow connection to PC and connection to thermal printer is also optional should a printout of measured data be required for validation.

Like the T-10 range of Konica Minolta illuminance meters, the CL-200 allows multi-point measurement - from 2 to 30 additional receptors connected to one main body. This is particularly useful should the operator wish to measure light across a large area, like the whole of a projector screen, for example or light falling across a room or open field.

The Incident Color Meter CL-200 supports measurement of the tristimulus values, chromaticity, color difference, correlated color temperature, and illuminance of light sources.

Principal Applications

* R&D for projector light sources.
* Control of color quality for CRTs and color LCDs
* Examination of light boxes for color change over time
* R&D and quality control for fluorescent lights
* Control of light boxes for color evaluation purposes
* R&D for building and interior lighting products
* Evaluation of experimental psychological environments

Main Features

* Four calibration functions for correction of measurement values.
Normal calibration: Measurement values are corrected using a standard A-source as the calibration light source
Normal user calibration: Measurement values are corrected by input of calibration light-source values
Multi calibration: Measurement values are corrected using R, G, B, and W values from an ultra-high-pressure mercury lamp.
Multi user calibration: Measurement values are corrected using R, G, B, and W values from a calibration light source.
* Data Management Software CL-S1w (sold separately) is required in order to input correction values for multi user calibration.
* Automatic zero-adjustment without a receptor cap
As soon as the power is turned on, the CL-200 automatically carries out zero adjustment and calibration, even when a cap has not been attached to the receiver, thus allowing measurement operations to be started almost immediately.
* Main unit and receiver can be separated and connected using a commercially-available LAN cable.
The receiver can be positioned away from the main unit in order to carry out remote measurement (100 m maximum).
*: An Adapter Unit for Main Body T-A20 and Adapter Unit for Receptor Head T-A21 (sold separately) will be required.
* * Two-way RS-232C communication
Featuring an RS-232C interface as standard, the CL-200 can be connected to a PC in order to carry out data processing. Even in situations where multi-point measurement is carried out, batch processing can be carried out on measurement data from a number of different receivers.
*: A Connecting Cable T-A11 (sold separately) will be required in order to carry out RS-232c communication.
* Printed output
Hard copies of measurement data can be obtained by simply connecting your CL-200 to a commercially-available printer (fitted with an RS-232c terminal).
*: A Printer Cable T-A12 (sold separately) will be required in order to perform printer output.
* Key cover for worry-free operation
A sliding key cover can be used to hide the CL-200's multi-function keys when not in use, thus preventing them from being accidentally pressed.
* LCD backlight is automatically controlled for low illuminance and hold.
* Power is supplied either using AA batteries or an AC adapter (sold separately).
* Simple, low-cost, and capable of multi-point measurements.
A single unit used for data display and key operations can be connected to as many as 30 receivers.
* An Adapter Unit for Main Body T-A20 and Adapter Unit for Receptor Head T-A21 for each receptor head (sold separately) will be required for multi-point measurements.
* Dedicated PC software for a complete system
The Data Management Software CL-S1w (sold separately) can be used to display measurement values in real time; to control up to 30 multi-point measurements; to perform ANSI measurement; to set measurement intervals; and to specify standard, upper limit, and lower limit values.
